Your pet may need surgery for a number of reasons, but their safety is always our first concern. Whether it’s something routine or more complex, we treat every surgery with equal caution. Pine Castle Animal Care Center uses top-of-the-line surgical equipment to meet all of your pet’s needs, and our knowledgeable veterinary team will provide them with attentive, loving care from beginning to end.

Spaying & Neutering

Spaying and neutering surgeries are some of the most common procedures we perform, and they’re common for a reason. Having your pet spayed or neutered by a certain age can prevent or reduce the following problems:

Females:

  • Going into heat
  • Unwanted pregnancies
  • Spotting
  • Pyometra (life-threatening infection of the uterus)
  • Breast tumors

Males:

  • Testicular cancer
  • Prostate problems
  • Urinating to mark territory
  • Some aggression problems
  • Roaming

Other Surgical Services

Along with spaying and neutering, we also perform:

  • Wound repair
  • Tumor removals
  • Feline declawing (elective)
  • Puppy tail docking (elective)
  • Abscess removals
  • Ear surgeries
  • Other soft tissue surgeries

What to Expect

Before your pet undergoes surgery, we examine them from head to tail to evaluate their health. Pre-surgical blood work is required for pets 7 years or older, but we also recommend it for younger pets if they were recently treated for health problems.

Once your pet is cleared for surgery, they are prepped in our sterilized pre-surgical area, then moved to a heated table in our sterilized surgical suite. An experienced veterinary technician stands by to monitor your pet’s vitals blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and respiratory rate. Following surgery, your pet is moved to our treatment area to recover with warm blankets while attentive staff members watch over them throughout the afternoon.
